Steps to Replace Top Cover Lock Set (Hinge) For HP LaserJet M1005 Printer :

  1. Power Off the Printer

    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the electrical outlet for safety.
  2. Open the Printer Cover

    • Lift the front cover to access the toner cartridge and internal components.
  3. Remove the Toner Cartridge

    • Carefully take out the toner cartridge and set it aside on a clean surface.
  4. Remove the Top Cover

    • Check for screws securing the top cover. Use a screwdriver to remove any screws holding it in place.
  5. Detach the Top Cover

    • Gently lift the top cover to release it from any clips or hinges. Be cautious not to force it, as it may be connected to wiring.
  6. Locate the Hinge Lock Set

    • Identify the top cover lock set (hinge) on the top cover or the printer body.
  7. Remove the Old Hinge

    • If the hinge is secured with screws, use a screwdriver to remove them. Carefully detach the old hinge from the top cover.
  8. Install the New Hinge :

    • Position the new hinge in the same location as the old one and secure it with screws.
  9. Reattach the Top Cover :

    • Align the top cover with the printer and lower it back into place, ensuring it fits properly into any guides.
  10. Secure the Top Cover

    • Reinsert any screws you removed earlier to secure the top cover.
  11. Reinstall the Toner Cartridge

    • Carefully insert the toner cartridge back into the printer.
  12. Close the Printer Cover

    • Close the front cover securely.
  13. Power On the Printer

    • Plug the printer back into the electrical outlet and turn it on. Allow it to initialize.
  14. Test the Printer

    • Perform a test print to ensure the printer is functioning correctly.
