Replacing the Fuser Drive Gear (23T/56T) For HP LaserJet P1108 M1136 M126 M128 P1007 1213 (RU5-0984-000) printer is quite a technical job. The Fuser Drive Gear (23T/56T) is accountable for moving rotational force from the motor to the fuser unit, allowing the fuser rollers to work correctly.

Switch off and remove the printer from the power source.

Let the printer cool down, mainly the fuser unit, as it can get too hot.

Work in a static-free environment to secure electronic parts.

Take off the Toner Cartridge and Paper Tray:

Take out front cover and take off the toner cartridge to avoid any toner spills during the disassembly.

Also Take off paper tray to allow you more room to work.

Take out the Back and Side Covers:

Move the printer around and pinout the screws securing the back cover and side covers.

Using a Philips screwdriver, take off the screws and softly pry off the back and side covers using a flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry tool. Be heedful not to ruin the clips or tabs holding the covers in place.

Find the Fuser Drive Gear Assembly:

With the covers taken off, you will now have entry to the internal parts.

The Fuser Drive Gear (23T/56T) is part of the gear assembly located on the side near the fuser unit. It typically mounts next to other gears that drive the fuser roller.

Take off the Fuser Unit (If needs be):

In some models, it might be easier to take off the fuser assembly to enter the gear more easily.

If necessary, remove the power connectors and screws holding the fuser in place, and carefully slide it out of the printer.

Disconnect the Clutch Drive Gear:

After locating the Fuser Drive Gear (23T/56T), check if it’s worn or damaged.

Take out the screws or clips securing the gear to the frame.

Softly slide the old gear off its shaft. If it’s stuck, gently pry it off with a flathead screwdriver.

Place the Clutch Drive Gear:

Line up the Fuser Drive Gear (23T/56T) with the shaft, making certain it meshes properly with the adjacent gears. Softly move the new gear onto the shaft. It should fit securely. Secure Fuser Drive Gear (23T/56T) by changing any screws or clips that were holding the old gear in place.

Examine the Gear Alignment:

After changing the new Fuser Drive Gear (23T/56T), move the gear assembly manually to make sure all the gears are lined up and move smoothly. There should be no struggle.

Make certain that the new gear is making proper contact with the fuser assembly and motor gears.

Put together the Printer:

If you removed it, place it back into the printer and ensure all connectors and screws are securely fastened.

Reconnect the side and back covers of the printer, making sure to securely fasten all clips and screws.

Replace the Toner Cartridge and Paper Tray: Place back the toner cartridge and paper tray back into the printer.

Check the Printer:

Put the printer back into the power source and switch it on.

Take a test print to confirm that the new gear is working correctly and that there are no strange sounds, paper jams, or print quality problems.
